Tina Ferguson and Robbie Schoenstein where presented with the Emergency Medical Services Commendation Medals and Certificates by the Daniel Guthrie Chapter of the Indiana Society Sons of the American Revolution.

Ferguson and Schoenstein were awarded the medals based on their performance above the call of their normal duties.

They were on a transfer call when they noticed a car on the side of the road and stopped to assist. A person in the car said they were taking a 51-year-old woman with severe chest pains to the hospital when she became unresponsive and stopped breathing.

Ferguson and Schoenstein performed CPR until a police officer arrived with an automatic electronic defibrillator which was used to revive the woman.

The Emergency Medical Services Commendation Medal is presented to an individual for accomplishments and/or outstanding contribution in an area of emergency medical services.
