Behind the Scenes Tour: Take a behind the scenes tour of the Lanier Mansion on the second Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors over 60 and $5 for children. Plein Air or Not: Well-known Madison painter Larry Rudolech will present works in oil on canvas at Village Lights Bookstore. Half of the pieces were created en plein air and the other half are studio works. The viewer is challenged to distinguish between the two. The exhibit will run through July 22.
The Amazing Spiderman 2 (PG13): His greatest battle begins. Peter Parker runs the gauntlet as the mysterious company Oscorp sends up a slew of supervillains against him, impacting his ordinary life and his extraordinary responsibilities. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx.
Family Film Series: The Ohio Theatre will host free showings during their family film series. Movies show at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays and at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. The scheduled films are: Epic, June 16-17; Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, June 23-24; Despicable Me 2, June 30-July 1; The Croods, July 7-8; The Nut Job, July 14-15; Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, July 21-22; and The Lego Movie, July 28-29. How To Train Your Dragon 2 (PG): When Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. The film features the voices of Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett and Gerard Butler.
22 Jump Street (R): After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college. The films tars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.
Edge of Tomorrow (PG13): An officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with an alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy. The film stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.
The Fault in Our Stars (PG13): Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met at a cancer support group. The film, which is based on the book by Hoosier resident John Green and set in Indianapolis, stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.
Maleficent (PG): A vindictive fairy is driven to curse an infant princes only to realize the child may be the only one who can restore peace to the land. The film stars Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley.
X-Men - Days of Future Past: The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. The film stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Peter Dinklage.
