The Ohio Theatre will host a free Family Film Series in June and July.
Each feature will be shown over two dates - Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Local residents and organizations sponsor the series, which starts Monday and runs until July 29.
This year there will be eight films, all of which are PG and family friendly. The program begins with "Turbo" and ends with "The Lego Movie."
The film series began in 1997 and has had as many as 11 free features in one summer.
"It's grown over the years, and we've had to put three showtimes," said Laura Ratcliff, owner of Ohio Theatre.
In addition to the free movies, this summer the Ohio is partnering with local libraries to provide coupons as rewards for summer reading programs. The theater also will hold drawings and give away free books before every showing in the film series to promote reading.
The series will include:
June 9-10 - "Turbo" sponsored by Madison Precision Products and Bear's Furniture Gallery.
June 16-17 - "Epic" sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church.
June 23-24 - "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2" sponsored by Hook's Child Daycare and Canida Dentistry.
June 30-July 1 - "Despicable Me 2" sponsored by River Valley Insurance Group Inc.
July 7-8 - "The Croods" sponsored by J.D., Amanda and Tyler The Hook Family and Robert E. Wall, DDS, PC.
July 14-15 - "The Nut Job" sponsored by The Pilot Club of Madison and Century 21.
July 21-22 - "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" sponsored by Dave and Kay Lou Adams.
