Courier Staff Report
Thursday, May 22, 2014 11:00 AM
The Friends of Butler and General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton are preparing for the first performance of the annual Backyard Concert Series. The first show is Saturday on the lawn of the Butler-Turpin State Historic House.
The Friends of Butler announced the 2014 series earlier this year, and the line-up includes both new and returning performers. The series opens with Greg Ziesemer and Kriss Luckett on Saturday.
The Walnut Street Blues Band will perform on June 21, Kentucky Blue on July 19, The Rigby's on Aug. 23, the Brotherhood Singers on Sept. 20, and the Whiskey Bent Valley on Oct. 11.
All of the family-friendly concerts are free. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. on the Butler-Turpin State Historic House lawn at General Butler park.
Saturday's concert is expected to last two hours.
There will be limited seating on the lawn, but organizers encourage visitors to bring their own chairs.
