The Carroll County Public Library will host an old-time sing-along event next week.

Jake Book, an Iowa native now living in Kentucky, will perform a sing-along concert filled with old-fashioned music at the library Wednesday.

Book plays both the banjo and guitar, learning the banjo from his mother who played in the old frailing style.

Book has been playing music since he was 9 years old. He also served as the front man for the Irish folk band "The Tenants" prior to a move to Kentucky.

In 2011, he founded "Historic Records," a label focusing on documenting and preserving folk music.

His music consists of original pieces, as well as old-time Irish and Appalachian tunes.

Since forming "Historic Records," Book also serves as a documentarian.

Book plans to perform at the library, 136 Court St., on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The show is open to all ages.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a sack lunch and to visit the library's garden before the program.
