Thursday, January 09, 2014 10:00 AM
Classical guitarist Andrew Winner will return to Madison on Friday when he performs a free concert at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church.
Winner is an adjunct professor at Northern Kentucky University. He has previously taught at Thomas More College and Trevacca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn.
He is the founder and former co-owner of the Guitar Academy of Bowling Green and the guitar studies program at The Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tenn.
According to an online biography, Winner is credited with numerous recitals, radio and television appearances. His most recent CD is "An Italian Serenade," which features Neapolitan and Italian folk songs. He has a second CD called "Spanish Pastorale."
"I perform quite frequently and have had the opportunity to use my guitar in a variety of situations and locales - solo, chamber, and recording," Winner said in his bio.
During Friday's concert, Winner will be accompanied by other instruments during later portions of the performance.
Winner began playing guitar at 19 and earned a bachelor of music degree from Western Kentucky University and a master of music in guitar performance from Austin Peay State University.
