Comedy Carvan: Fundraiser returns Saturday
Thursday, May 29, 2014 11:00 AM
The Comedy Caravan is returning to Madison Consolidated High school this weekend to support a band fundraiser.
Three comedians will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium. The show is expected to last 90 minutes.
The performance will feature comedians Bob Batch, Joe Deuce and Kent Carney.
Ryan Day, an organizer of the event, said all proceeds will benefit the junior high and high school band programs. There is a lot of equipment that needs to be replaced.
"Either it's really old, or it doesn't work," Day said. "So we're trying to get some of it upgraded."
The comedy show was seen as a "kind of different fundraiser," Day said. In the past, kids typically went door-to-door to sell items. That didn't work well, so Day said they decided to bring in the comedy group.
This is the second time this year the Comedy Caravan has come to Madison. The previous show, which was held in January, had a good response prior to the event. Day said it snowed the day of the performance, and actual attendance was down.
Day did not know how many tickets have been sold so far. Tickets are available in advance for $10 at River Valley Financial Bank. They cost $12 at the door.
