Decorated trees add a little extra Christmas cheer to the General Butler State Resort Park lodge during the holiday season.

The annual Festival of Trees at the park in Carrollton features more than a dozen Christmas trees with different designs and themes. All of the trees help the lodge's mezzanine to sparkle just a little brighter with the added lights, ribbons, tinsel and Christmas bows and help to welcome visitors to the area.

The park's program service supervisor Tanya Supplee said the trees were decorated by local schools, churches, businesses and organizations for the annual park event.

Each tree showcases a different look, and some of the trees vary in size - although most trees are six feet or larger.

A few of the Festival of Trees displays highlight traditional Christmas poinsettias, nutcrackers and berries, while others feature other ornaments and ribbons. One of the decorated trees feature the colors of Relay for Life with breast cancer awareness ribbons and other Christmas ornaments, while other trees display handmade ornaments and decorations.

The public is welcome to visit the lodge at any time throughout the day to view the display during the holiday season.

The Festival of Trees will be open and on display until Jan. 1.

The state park lodge will be closed after lunch Dec. 23 and reopen in time for dinner on Dec. 26.
