'The Jungle Book'

A classic children's story about a boy raised in the jungle comes to the stage in a musical rendition at the end of February.
Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville presents "The Jungle Book: The Musical" beginning Saturday. Two performances take place every Saturday through the end of March.
"The Jungle Book," based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, follows Mowgli as he faces the dangers of being raised by wolves in the jungles of India. With the help of his friends Bagheera the Panther and Baloo the Bear, Mowgli takes on the menacing Shere Khan the Tiger and Kaa the Snake throughout his adventures.
The story highlights life lessons and the power of friendship as Mowgli encounters a few mischievous monkeys and a beautiful young village girl. The production is part of the Children's Musical Theatre Series at Derby Dinner Playhouse, 525 Marriott Drive, Clarksville.
"The Jungle Book" features songs including "Turn That Frown Upside Down," "When You Hear the Beat," "It's Alarmin' I'm So Charmin'" and more. The production was written for the stage by Ted J. Morris and Bill Johnson with the music and lyrics also written by Ted. J. Morris.
The Derby Dinner Playhouse cast includes Collin Jackson as Mowgli, Colleen Arnold as Bagheera the Panther, Bill Hanna as Baloo the Bear, David Myers as Akela the Wolf and Marty the Vulture, Scott Anthony as Shere Khan the Tiger and Percy the Vulture, Carly Stotts as Kaa the Snake, Deborah Mae Hill as Maya and Marina Hart as Monkey. The production is directed by Tina Jo Wallace.
Public performances of the production are on Saturdays with a breakfast buffet at 9 a.m. and the show at 10 a.m. Afternoon shows include a lunch buffet at noon with the performance beginning at 1:15 p.m.
All performances have a kid-friendly menu.

"The Jungle Book" is most suitable for children ages 3 to 12.
