Wineries on the Indiana Wine Trail will pair a special soup with their best wines this weekend as part of Souper Saturday.

The event, in its fourth year, runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. but some of the locations will recognize regular business weekend hours.

The six wineries include: Thomas Family Winery, Lanthier Winery, Madison Vineyards Estate Winery, The Ridge Winery, Ertel Cellars Winery and Stream Cliff Farm Winery.

In Madison, Thomas Family Winery will offer a tortilla soup, a sauvignon blanc-based treat that includes chicken stock, garlic, onion, tomato and green chiles.

"It's the kind of thing you want in the winter to kind of get your blood flowing," said owner Steve Thomas.

Thomas said the wineries use Souper Saturday to educate customers on their wines, which are used in the soups being offered. With a warmup in the forecast, Thomas said it looks like a good time for local residents to be out and about.

"It's a good weekend to get out and stretch your legs," he said.

Madison Vineyards Winery will offer a Ba-Da-Bing! soup, which is based from a dry red wine, also called Ba-Da-Bing!. The winery also will offer a Mousseux Mystique batter bread, vegetable cream cheese spread with crackers.

In downtown Madison, Lanthier Winery will offer coyote soup, a tomato-based treat that will feature the shop's Rivertown Red, a dry red wine.
