The main entrance to General Butler State Park in Carrollton will close next week for repairs to the park's dam.

The park's main road will be closed beginning Oct. 29 for the work, which is expected to last until Nov. 26. Repairs will be made to the pipes that run through the dam, a Kentucky Department of Parks news release said.

The rest of the park's amenities - including the lodge, cottages, restaurant, conference center and other attractions - will remain open during the repairs to the dam.

Visitors are asked to use Gillock Avenue and KY 320 to enter at the rear entrance of the park. Construction detour signs and message boards will be installed Oct. 28.

A temporary entrance will be created for access to the campground and for delivery vehicles to the lodge. The temporary entrance will be located on KY 227 about a quarter-mile north of the main entrance.
