OLD BRIDGE COMING DOWN
Tuesday, June 11, 2013 11:00 AM
Crews have begun removing the concrete deck and steel beams from the old Madison-Milton bridge in the multi-step demolition of the superstructure. After the trusses are removed, the existing piers will be strengthened and widened. Then the new superstructure will be slid from the temporary piers to the permanent ones. The bridge is scheduled to be closed for about five days for the slide. After the slide is complete, the walkway will be added to the west facing side of the bridge. Robin, are you going to be able to appropriate one or two of these girders for me so I can complete my Madison Demolition exhibit in my back yard? (I'll ask my brother if he wants any and let you know!!) ~Suzie
