A 20-year-old Hanover College student was arrested inside his dormitory Monday on cocaine and marijuana charges.

Colby W. Light, 20, of Crawfordsville, faces preliminary charges of possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, a Class C felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department received a tip of narcotics use and conducted a search of Lights' dorm room. He is a resident of Wiley Hall.

Deputy Yancy Denning led the investigation with assistance from deputies Brent Bennett and Josh Cochran and K-9 Glock.

Inside Light's room, Glock indicated the presence of drugs, and deputies seized cocaine, marijuana, money - fewer than $100 - and drug paraphernalia, a sheriff's report said.
