TAXI SERVICE: Benny Newell helps Jo Ann Gripshover from Bob Canida’s boat after she got a ride to Madison from Milton on Monday. Dr. Bob Canida, with the assistance of Benny Newell, is helping area residents with their commute across the Ohio River while the Madison-Milton bridge is closed.
Using his family's ski boat, Canida made several round trips from Madison to Milton on Monday to help people who work at local businesses and schools get from their workplaces to home without making the more than 100-mile round trip because of the closure of the bridge.
While Canida - a local dentist who has to take time out at the beginning and toward the end of each day - cannot help everyone, he's doing what he can to alleviate the burden for some.
Canida and his son, Ben, also helped commuters during the bridge closure in April 2012.
Walsh Construction's contract for the bridge project allows for 10 closure days before damages will be assessed. That 10-day mark ended Monday at 11:59 p.m. Each day after the contracted 10 closure days will cost the company $25,000 a day in liquidated damages.

This not the only thing Bob and Ben do for our community. Both are "great community folks"
