DEPUTY MAKES CARDS FOR HEROES
Tuesday, November 26, 2013 10:00 AM
Representatives of each grade at Deputy Elementary School, display cards made by the school's students for the Jefferson County American Red Cross' annual Cards for Heroes campaign. The students are, front row, from left, first-grader Sawyer Deen, kindergartener Cameron Hoffmire and second-grader Ann Koontz; second row, from left, third-grader Leah Sullivan, fourth-grader Jorja Hazelwood and fifth-grader Jasper Gray. The students were joined in the photo by Sandy Sailer and Mary Mour of the American Red Cross and Deputy Elementary School counselor Jan Swann. Swann said she encouraged the 130 students to make at least 200 cards. At the end of the card drive, the school had created 300 cards for military personnel serving around the world, as well as veterans and families of service people.
