Seth Brawner, top, ties a bow onto a branch of the city's Christmas tree near the Broadway Fountain on Monday. Students from the Madison Fine Arts Academy worked with city employees to decorate the tree in advance of the Light Up Madison festivities on Friday. The event will begin at the tree at 6 p.m.
Bob Schafer, bottom, sets up Santa's cottage, lowering it into place with a hydraulic jack and cinder blocks near the gazebo at the city's Main Street parking lot on Monday. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to meet with children at their cottage in the Main Street parking lot after the tree-lighting ceremony until 8 p.m. Letters to Santa can be dropped off in the box outside the door of City Hall or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. A list of Santa's hours can be heard by calling (305) 707-2682.
