Text to police officer about drugs lands woman in jail
Tuesday, May 07, 2013 11:00 AM
Police arrested a Madison woman Friday after she allegedly sent text messages about buying drugs to a police officer.
Senior Patrolman Joe Baker received text messages from an unknown number requesting to buy prescription drugs, Chief Dan Thurston said. Police arranged to have an officer go undercover to attempt to sell two Xanax pills behind Shipley's Tavern, Thurston said, but did not locate the individual.
Police entered the bar and called the phone number and located Chelsea E. Caplinger, 23. Police arrested Caplinger for attempted possession of a controlled substance. Thurston said the text message exchanges with police officers were located on Caplinger's phone.
She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
