With Christmas just a day away, most stores and offices will be closed.

But not everyone will be home for the holidays.

Jessi Pearson and her fellow workers at the Circle K gas station on Clifty Drive near State Road 7, will be working at least part of the day.

"We can't close," Pearson said. "It's a gas station."

Pearson said her manager does a good job of keeping holiday hours fair. Each person at the gas station works a four-hour shift, Pearson said, and employees could request which shift they would prefer to work to make planning for Christmas Day easier. Pearson will work from 6 to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"My fiancé will probably still be in bed when I get home," she said. "He won't even notice I'm gone."

The gas station will maintain normal hours on Christmas.

City offices will reopen Thursday. Trash pickup is scheduled for today, and the city's transfer station will be open. Trash collection will resume on Dec. 26 and be one day behind the regular schedule.
