Catch-A-Ride will discontinue it hourly stops at Big Lots beginning next month.

Erin Catford, Catch-A-Ride director, said the bus service has data showing the stop was rarely used - less than 4 percent of the company's customers actually walk on at that location, she said.

Catch-A-Ride chose to cut out the extra miles and the extra time spent on the road to the hilltop location to provide more useful services to patrons.

"We just thought we'd make it a little more reasonable for everybody," she said.

Catch-A-Ride will still take people to Big Lots if they make individual requests. Those demand response service requests are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis by scheduling a time through the company, a release said.

Demand response services are available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Trips may be booked up to seven days in advance, the company's website said.

Vehicles will continue to make stops at the Walmart/Kroger locations and downtown Comfort Station. Vehicles will be available at both locations on the hour and half past the hour on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Catford said.
