Construction crews plan a two-week closure on Coopers Bottom Road for the installation of a new bridge.

Coopers Bottom Road will close Wednesday for the installation of the new bridge, which will help resolve issues with a clogged culvert. The roadway could reopen by June 20 - weather permitting.

Construction will be located about 1.2 miles from the Milton city limits.

The Trimble County Fiscal Court approved the project during the regular May meeting. Roads supervisor Kenny Tindle told magistrates during the meeting that a culvert in the area had become clogged again with debris after being replaced about three years ago.

The only way to resolve the debris and drainage issues would be to create a bridge span, Tindle said.

The bridge project is expected to cost about $78,000, but the state transportation department has agreed to pay for 80 percent of the project - or about $63,200.

Motorists will need to take a detour to Burkhardt Bottom Road when traveling to areas on Coopers Bottom Road located past the bridge construction site.
