The Jefferson County Republican Party is seeking a replacement for an open at-large seat on the Hanover Town Council.
Councilman Brett Mitchell resigned this week because he moved out of the town limits and was no longer eligible to serve on the board.
Mitchell represented the Hanover 1, Hanover 2, Hanover 2A and Hanover 3 precincts.
The local Republican party will hold a caucus to select another representative that will serve out the remainder of Mitchell's term, which will be up at the end of 2014. The caucus is set for Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.
Residents interested in filling the open position must reside in one of the Hanover precincts listed above and must send a written letter of interest to the Jefferson County Republican Party, P.O. Box 445, Madison, IN 47250.
Letters must be received by Jan. 11, which is 72 hours prior to the caucus, to be included for consideration.
