House fire leads to meth arrest
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 10:00 AM
Police arrested a man in connection with a Jan. 8 fire that authorities said was started from waste from a methamphetamine lab.
During an investigation at 2317 Lanier Drive, Fire Chief Steve Horton said they recovered "certain items" that are typically used during the production of meth, including a two-liter bottle containing a black liquid.
Police became involved in the investigation and questioned James Thompson, 46, who lived at the property.
Chief Dan Thurston said Thompson admitting knowledge of the meth lab, but said he wasn't the one cooking it.
Thompson was arrested on a charge of manufacturing meth.
