Madison Junior High School has postponed a trip to Washington D.C. for some eighth-grade students.

Because of the federal government shutdown, now in its second week, many of the sites the eighth-grade class planned to visit are closed.

School Principal Jill Mires said she's working with the travel company to determine a future date for the trip.

As of now, the trip will be postponed until late April or early May, Mires said.

"Once we get new information on that, we will it send out immediately," Mires said.

The D.C. trip was scheduled through Taylor Tours.
