Madison man pleads guilty to home burglaries
Courier Staff Report
Wednesday, April 02, 2014 11:00 AM
A Madison man connected to several residential burglaries in June 2013 pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Christian A. Stewart, 18, pleaded guilty to burglary, a Class B felony, and a probation violation. A plea agreement filed with the court says he will be sentenced to six years on probation.
Christian Stewart and his brother, Darren Keith Stewart, were arrested in June 2013 and deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department connected them to six burglaries.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor D.J. Mote said there were "significant evidentiary problems" with Christian Stewart's case, and he felt this was the best deal for both sides.
A majority of the evidence, Mote said, connects Darren Stewart to the burglaries. He is scheduled to plead guilty on April 28.
