Another arrest has been made in the February death of a 2-year-old Carroll County boy.

Amanda Foster, 28, of Ghent, Ky., was arrested Tuesday by Kentucky State Police. She faces charges of criminal abuse and transfer of a controlled substance to a minor following the death of her son on Feb. 18.

Her boyfriend and the child's father, 26-year-old Douglas Allen, was arrested in early March on a charge of murder. At the time, police said a toxicology report showed the boy had "extremely high" levels of oxycodone in his system.

Police believe Allen gave his son the lethal dose of oxycodone in February, but the couple had given the child the drug "multiple times," Kentucky State Police Post 5 spokesman Brad Arterburn said.

Foster faces the charge of criminal abuse because police believe she had a prior role in giving the child narcotics.

"She had done this several times," Arterburn said.

The child did not have any reason to be on the prescription painkillers, Arterburn said. Neither the child nor either parent has a prescription for oxycodone.

An investigation into the case is still ongoing.
