After new state-of-the-art diving platforms are installed, Madison Junior High School's pool will be ready for swimming. The pool project was approved by the school board last October. The overhaul includes a deeper pool and higher ceiling to allow diving, new lighting and tiling, a renovated HVAC system, relocated bleachers, a new scoreboard, and a new diving board and platforms. The platforms have pressure sensors that start a timer once the swimmer has jumped from the mark. The new facility should be open for tours sometime next week or the week after, Madison Consolidated Schools Director of Operations Mike Frazier said. Renovations were contracted out to Parco Constructors Group for $1.3 million. (Staff photo by Ken Ritchie/kritchie@madisoncourier.com)
