Madison police arrested Jefferson County surveyor Jeff Daghir on Sunday morning on allegations that he was driving under the influence.

Police said Daghir was westbound on East Second Street and turned northbound on Mulberry Street without using a turn signal.

Chief Dan Thurston said Patrolman Josh Abbott detected an alcoholic odor on Daghir and administered three field sobriety tests, all of which Daghir failed. Thurston said Daghir admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening.

Daghir was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he failed a certified breath test. He was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
