Officials with the Madison-Milton bridge project are now anticipating the bridge slide will take place sometime in 2014.

Bridge officials said the reason for the additional delay is because the pier caps are taking longer to form than originally expected, and a more realistic date is in January or February. It is also possible for additional delays due to weather.

Once the bridge caps are widened, the bridge will close for seven days prior to the actual slide.

The slide will take from four to 12 hours.

There will be an opening ceremony for the new bridge once the slide has completed. A specific date has not been set.
