The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department made two drug arrests Sunday evening after responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle on Northwood Drive.

Deputy Josh Cochran and K-9 Glock were first to respond to the scene, where Glock indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle during a perimeter search, according to a news release.

A subsequent search revealed narcotics inside the vehicle and on the two suspects - John G. Hankinson Jr. and Christopher M. Hankins - according to the report. Deputies reported finding marijuana, controlled substances oxymorphone and suboxone and syringes.

Hankinson Jr., 38, of Osgood, faces preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with prior conviction, possession of a syringe, four counts of possession of a controlled substance and maintain a common nuisance.

Hankins, 34, of Vevay, faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance and visiting a common nuisance.

Deputies were assisted by Indiana State Police.
