The Switzerland County Sheriff's Office continue to search for a man who managed to get out of handcuffs and flee from police Thursday after an arrest.

Matthew Davis, 23, of Jefferson County, was arrested on a warrant after the sheriff's office responded to a domestic disturbance in the 8000 block of Cogley Cole Road around 4:30 a.m., a news release said.

Law enforcement discovered two male subjects at the residence were wanted on warrants after a record check. Deputies arrested Matthew Davis and placed him in handcuffs behind his back before taking him to the patrol vehicle.

Davis managed to get out of the handcuffs, exit the vehicle and flee the area, the release said.

Additional units were called to the scene to assist with the search, but police were unable to find Davis.

Davis was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds.

Davis was not armed when he escaped from police, but the sheriff's office advises people not to approach him, if located.

The other male subject, 26-year-old Robert B. Davis of Vevay, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to the Switzerland County Detention Center.
