Mary Wooten

Mary Lynn Brooks Wooten, 87, of Hanover, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Brooksburg, to Howard and Lillie Hess Brooks. She was raised in Brooksburg and was a graduate of Central High School. She was employed with Meyers Manufacturing and worked as an assembler with Conn Organ Company until it closed. She also worked as an attendant at the Madison State Hospital until she retired. She was a member of Faith Alliance Church. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and reading the Bible.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wooten, whom she married April 4, 1993; three sons, Doug Abbott, Delbert Abbott and Terry Abbott, all of Madison; one daughter, Rhonda Carr of Madison; two stepdaughters, Barbara Blackward of Seymour and Nancy Couch of Scottsburg; two stepsons, John Wooten and Gary Wooten, both of Scottsburg; one sister, Virginia Bear of Madison; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Janice Abbott; her parents; one brother, Ralph Brooks; and one grandson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Center. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Faith Alliance Church. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
