Vivian Storie

Vivian Storie, 86, of Madison, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born March 28, 1927, in Versailles, to Charles and Irene White Demaree. She was a 1945 graduate of Versailles High School. She worked in the Maintenance Department of the Jefferson Proving Ground for several years. She helped establish the Senior Citizen Centers in Versailles and Madison. She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church and a 67-year member of the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Charles F. Storie, whom she married Nov. 27, 1992; one daughter, Marilyn Hale of College Corner, Ohio; one brother, Jack Demaree of Versailles; one sister, Norma Lee Meacham of Illinois; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles F. "Sonny" Demaree, James Collinsworth and Eddie Demaree; and four sisters, Opal Collinsworth, Edna Horton, Faye Sloan and Fern Strimple.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. The Versailles American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a special service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Diabetes Foundation. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
