Helen Keller

Helen Long Keller, 88, of Madison, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Madison, to Harvey and Mary Moore Long. She resided all of her life in Madison and was a 1944 graduate of Madison High School. She farmed with her husband on Ryker's Ridge for the 70 years. She worked for 18 years at Conn Organ Co. until it closed. Early in life she worked for Meyers Manufacturing and Joyce Shoe Factory. Later in life she enjoyed working for the Council on Aging and Burger King. She enjoyed social activities and was a member of the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Jefferson County Republican Women's Club, area representative for the Jefferson County Farm Bureau and served on the Jefferson County Election Board. She also volunteered at the Good Samaritan. She enjoyed yard sales and collecting everything.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Keller of Hamilton, Ohio, and Keith Wayne Keller of Madison; one daughter, Susan Lee Keller Smith of Madison; one sister, Virginia Long Facemire of Madison; four grandchildren; one stepgrandson; four great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and several relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter George "Bud" Keller, whom she married Dec. 3, 1944, and who died Oct. 11, 2005; her parents; and one stepgrandson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Ryker's Ridge New Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Marjorie Perry

Marjorie Kathryn Cottey Perry, 78, of Madison, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.

She was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Augusta, Ky., to Noel Roscoe and Lena Applegate Cottey. She spent her early life in Bracken County before the family moved to Vevay. She attended Vevay High School. She earned her licensed practical nursing degree and was employed with the Madison State Hospital and Muscatatuck State Development Center for 15 years. She worked for the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison for 20 years in the Dietary Department. She worked as a cook for four years at the Jefferson County Jail and for four years with Kathy's Kitchen in Milton, Ky., and at the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969. She was a member of the Broadway Second Baptist Church in downtown Madison. She enjoyed watching "Days of Our Lives," listening to country music, going to the boat, shopping and her dogs.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Lee Mitchell of Madison and Ronnie Mitchell of Nashville, Tenn.; four daughters, Kathy Stewart Martin of Milton, Ky., Karen Davis Meyer of Dupont, and Betty "Buffy" Paul and Nina Ruth Mitchell, both of Madison; three stepsons, George Thomas Perry of Madison, Russell D. Cosby of Hanover and Brian Gibson of Madison; two sisters, Loucetta Rathgen of Hamilton, Ohio, and Vicky Dwelly of Lewisburg, Ky.; one brother, William Roscoe "Bill" Cottey of Hamilton, Ohio; 34 grandchildren; 38 stepgrandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 28 stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rollie Lewis Mitchell, whom she married in 1950; her second husband, Wayne Bailey, whom she married in 1960; her third husband, George R. Perry, whom she married April 2, 1977, and who died Jan. 17, 2001; one stepdaughter, Mary Penrose "Penny" Perry; her parents; two sisters, Alma Mae Cottey Yerby and Janet Cottey; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Joseph Rishty, 73, of Madison, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

John Wheeler

John Ellsworth Wheeler, 77, of Madison, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Madison, to Russell and Marie Callis Wheeler. He graduated in 1956 from the former Central High School and later graduated from the Kentucky School of Barbering in Louisville, Ky. He was an Army veteran, serving as a medic. He was the owner and operator of Wheeler's Barber Shop in Madison for 53 years, retiring and closing his shop on Main Street on March 31, 2013. He attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church, and enjoyed airplanes and war movies.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gladden Wheeler, whom he married Sept. 29, 1958; one daughter, Sherry Billman of Springfield, Tenn.; one son, Jason Wheeler of Minooka, Ill.; one brother, Ronald Wheeler of Hendersonville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Wheeler, who died June 27, 2011; his parents; and five brothers: Hershel Wheeler, Elmo Wheeler, Clayton Wheeler, Maynard Wheeler and Bobby Wheeler.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted graveside by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Tanya Zollman

Tanya Zollman, 62, of Charlestown, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Madison, to Kenneth C. and Wyona Bower Eaglin. She was a unit secretary at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Zollman Sr.; three sons, Donavan May of Montana, Eric May of Salem and Brock May of Charlestown; three stepchildren, Patricia Zollman of Scottsburg, David L. Zollman Jr. of Lexington and Tonya Callahan of Scottsburg; her father of New Washington; two brothers, Ricky Eaglin of North Carolina and Donald Long of Sellersburg; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
