Ellen Eversole

Ellen Gaye Eversole, 89, of Deputy, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Scottsburg.

She was born March 24, 1924, in Grassy Branch, Ky., to Horry and Bertha Deaton Campbell. She was a homemaker. She worked for a short time during the war for Morgan Foods. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Deputy and the Deputy Homemakers Club. She enjoyed traveling and taking care of and spoiling her family. She also enjoyed basketball, especially the University of Kentucky and Indiana Pacers.

She is survived by one son, James B. Eversole of Columbus; three daughters, Carolyn J. Eversole of Hanover, Doris J. Lewis of Shelbyville, Ky. and Robin A. Baker of Nashville; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Eversole Jr., whom she married Aug. 3, 1941, and who died Sept. 18, 2008; one daughter, Barbara G. Uebel; her parents; two sisters, Gladys Campbell and Avis Campbell; and three brothers, Deane Campbell, Eugene Campbell and Clayborne Campbell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Wanda Hall

Wanda Janice Perkins Hall, 66, of Madison, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 20, 1947, in Madison, to Robert and Lillian Beatrice Bartlett Perkins. She grew up in West Virginia and was a graduate of Oceana High School. Her family later returned to Madison. She worked for Madison Plastics and Madison Mobile Homes. She enjoyed being a homemaker, making baskets, word puzzles, reading, bowling, playing bunco and visiting with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting roosters, Longaberger Baskets and Boyd's Bears.

She is survived by her husband Marshall R. "Butch" Hall, who she married Dec. 12, 1981; two sons, Shawne Perkins of Knoxville, Tenn. and Bobby Hall of Camby; two step daughters, Lori Slygh of Madison and Dawn Bruce of Hanover; one brother, Ronnie Perkins of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Sidney Nighbert

Sidney Lee Nighbert, 96, of Mooresville, formerly of Plainfield, died Saturday, March 15, 2014.

He was born April 15, 1917, in Hanover Township, to Shirley Lee and Lulu Sutherland Nighbert. He grew up working on the family farm. He worked at Yunkers Pearl Packing in Madison. He served in the Army Air Corps as a hydraulic specialist on the B-29 Super Fortress with the 870th Bombardment Squadron 497th Bombardment Group from 1943 to 1945. He later worked for C. A. Roberts Steel Tubing, now known as EMJ, retiring in 1982. During his retirement he worked with a lawn service and drove for National Car Rental until he was 90. He was a long-time member of Plainfield Christian Church. He was awaiting the birth of his 10th great-grandchild.

He is survived by four children, Judy Newman of Flint Mich., Alta Linthicum of Del City,Okla., Russell Nighbert of Mooresville and Noell Nighbert of Plainfield; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Sara A. Noell Nighbert; one infant daughter, Olive Dyann; his parents; three sisters, Ruby Gassert, Thelma Long and Agnes Rowlett; and one brother, Carl Nighbert.

A graveside service and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at New Bethel Cemetery.

Friends may call at Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Geraldene Perkinson

Geraldene "Gerry" Tharp Chadwell Perkinson, 73, of Carrollton, Ky., died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

She was born April 9, 1940, in New Castle, Ky., to Dalton and Goldie Estes Tharp. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden caring for her flowers and roses, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going to Belterra. She also enjoyed animals, especially her dogs.

She is survived by three children, Connie Burton of Madison, and Mark Chadwell and Linda Carson, both of Milton, Ky.; one sister, Mary Tharp of Carrollton, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Joseph Rishty

Joseph "Joe" Rishty, 73, of Madison, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Jacob and Esther Krady Rishty. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from high school in New York. He received his accounting and business degree from George Washington University. He worked in sales and insurance most of his life and had owned and operated Security Group Incorporated. He was of the Jewish faith. He resided for 17 years in Colonial Beach, Va., moving to Madison in fall 2011. He enjoyed his dogs and driving without a destination.

He is survived by his fiancée, Janet Geyman of Madison; two daughters, Elizabeth Dara Bramlett of Beltsville, Md., and Rebecca Lynn Rishty of Bethesda, Md.; one son, Jacob Joseph Rishty of Tiffin, Ohio; one brother, Ralph Rishty of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Shelley Lieberman.

A graveside service and burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Springdale Cemetery.
