Lewis Grant "Louie" Barnes, 68, of Bedford, Ky., died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born May 12, 1945, in Trimble County, Ky., to Obie D. and Mary Jane Williams Barnes. He was a 1963 graduate of Trimble County High Schooland was valedictorian. He served in the military from Sept. 21, 1965 to Sept. 12, 1967, during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Specialist 4th Class in Ammo Storage. He worked for Conn Organ for many years. and retired from Kentucky Utilities (LGE). He enjoyed being outside, fishing, hunting, talking on the phone, playing tennis and horseback riding. He was a University of Kentucky and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a member of Popular Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sue Barnes; one daughter, Brittany Barnes; one step daughter, Shannon Stidham; one sister, Phyllis Brown; seven grandchildren; seven nephews; four nieces; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by one step son, Shawn M. Andrew; his parents; and two brothers, Dwight Barnes and Kenneth Barnes.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted graveside by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion and the Army.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Edith Gevedon, 94, of North Vernon, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
She was born July 8, 1919, in Grassy Creek, Ky., to Joe and Laura Ferguson Millard. She was a 1937 graduate of Morgan County High School in Morgan County, Ky. She worked for Reliance Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Grassy Lick Church in Grassy Greek, Ky. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, the University of Kentucky and watching her grandchildren play ball.
She is survived by one daughter, Reda Wickens of North Vernon; one step daughter, Janie Roberson of Vernon; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Gevedon, whom she married Aug. 4, 1937, and who died in Sept. 1956; two step sons, Jack Gevedon and Ronald Gevedon; her parents; three sisters, Annie Peyton, Daisy Brown and Mary Peyton; one brother, Chalmer Stacy; and one grandson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Grassy Lick Church Cemetery in Morgan County, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Melinda C. Liter, 49, of Wildwood, Fla., died Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
She was born Sept. 4, 1964, in Madison, to Charles Nophaie Sr. and Norma Jean Ashby. She had resided in Wildwood, Fla. since 1986.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Dawn Liter of Wildwood, Fla.; two sons, Clifton Dale Liter and Booker John Mathieu, both of Wildwood, Fla.; three brothers, Charles Robert Ashby of Hortense, Ga., Dale Herman Ashby of Hanover and Bruce Allan Ashby of Madison; one sister, Gail Francene Johnson of Madison; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; and one brother, Charles Nophaie Ashby Jr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
