Day of Caring needs nominations, volunteers to work
Monday, January 27, 2014 10:00 AM
The Jefferson County United Way is looking for projects to tackle during its annual Day of Caring event.
The special day has been set for May 3. That might seem like a long way off, but it takes time to select the recipients of the help offered and also to recruit volunteers to complete the jobs.
The Day of Caring is designed to help those in need by giving time and talent to special projects.
Applications are being taken for projects that can be completed in one day. If you know someone that is in need of help or needs a particular project completed to improve their quality of life, they can be nominated by filling out a project application form now through March 29.
Applications and more information can be obtained by contacting the Jefferson County United Way office at (812) 273-2036 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications also are available at www.jcinunitedway.com.
Those wishing to volunteer their services should contact the United Way office at the phone number above.
There are many ways to have an impact on a community's quality of life - and not all involve getting out the checkbook.
Day of Caring is an excellent opportunity for individuals or groups to step forward and make a difference in someone's life through service.
