    This fall, Karlee Sherman won’t just be a student starting her freshman year at the University of Kentucky – she’ll be a scholar. Sherman recently found out that she is one of 350 students nationwide to receive the 2016 Dell Scholar Program scholarship from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.

The new club is ideal for those who might not be ready for the yearlong commitment of a traditional 4-H Club membership, those who aren’t available during the county fair in July and those who are just looking for a new focused activity.

  • Mary Ann Gentry Memorial Art Show opens Friday at CCPL

    More than 110 pieces will be on display next month at the Mary Ann Gentry Memorial Art Show at the Carroll County Public Library. The show – which began in 1989 and was named for Gentry in 2005 – opens with a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the community room, where the bulk of the art will be featured.

    With a thoughtful and heartfelt presentation of “The Glass Castle,” by Jeannette Walls, Madison Consolidated High School senior Jordan Dean took the top award Sunday in the 105th annual Custer Contest – touted by emcee Lee Strassell as “Madison’s finest tradition.”
