    After months of waiting for approval, a local group working to renovate a downtown landmark can now move forward with their mission. The Friends of the Ohio Theatre, Inc. has received federal nonprofit status from Internal Revenue Service, effective Nov. 28.

    If Farly is picked up, he will cuddle. He will often wander the shelter’s front lobby as he likes attention and does not like being in a cage. Patsy is a sweet and affectionate girl. She will reach through the cage door when visited. She enjoys playing and looks forward to having a home with toys. The Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter currently has seven dogs and 29 cats or kittens available. Pictures of additional pets waiting for adoption can be viewed at www.sisaveapet.com. Normal shelter hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is closed Tuesday.
