Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council

The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council met at the Jefferson County Public Library's Madison branch on April 3, 2014, with eight members and two guests present. Vice president Kay Dunham presided. Dorothy Canada gave the secretary's report. There was no treasurer's report. Dunham and Canada reported on the District Meeting, which was held March 13 in Nashville. Homemakers continued to make plans for the annual Bits and Pieces Quilt show, which will be held April 12 and 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. Quilts for display can be dropped off at the fairgrounds April 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. Admission is $3. The event will include hourly door prize drawings and a quilt raffle. Proceeds go towards scholarships for Madison Consolidated, Shawe and Southwestern high school seniors. For more information call (812) 265-8919. Jennings County will host Leader Lesson Day on May 8. Registration for lunch is due by May 1. The council will meet again at 9:15 a.m. May 1 at the library.
