Food for Fines: The Carroll County Public Library will sponsor the annual holiday program. During November and December food donations will be accepted for fine amnesty. For more information call (502) 732-7020.
Hop for Socks: Southeastern Indiana Voices for Children will be collecting new socks for area children for Christmas. New socks can be donated through Dec. 13 at Voices for Children, 217 E. Main St.
Angel Tree: The Salvation Army's Angel Trees are available at Walmart, Walgreens, American Rental, The Moose Lodge and The Salvation Army in Madison. To adopt a family this Christmas, choose an Angel off a tree or call the Salvation Army at (812) 265-2157.
Nights Before Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes: The annual tour of homes and public sites will be held Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 6-7 with tours Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 to 9 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets call (812) 265-2956 or visit www.nightsbeforechristmas.com.
Great Cookie Caper: The Madison Visitor Center will host the Great Cookie Caper Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 6-7, Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 8 p.m.
Dashing Through the Snow: Madison Community Players will present the dinner theater production at 6 p.m. Dec. 5-7 at the Madison Elks Lodge. For tickets call (812) 493-3357 or (812) 701-9449.
Arts and Crafts Show: Will be held by the Sidewinders 4-H Club and Vevay Tourism at the Switzerland County Technology and Education Center, 708 W. Seminary St., Vevay, from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 7. The show will feature 40 booths and homemade chicken noodle and vegetable soup, and chili for $1 a bowl. Senior Dance: Will be not be held by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym.
Vevay's First Friday: Will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Vevay with late-night shopping, store specials and free carriage rides. Switzerland County Tourism will hold an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest, open to everyone. Judging will take place at 8 p.m. at the Visitors Center. Children are welcome to make a jingle bell necklace at the Visitors Center from 6 to 8 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
Family Toyland Day: General Butler State Resort Park will host a family toyland day with breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m. Activities will continue with workshops from 9 a.m. to noon on the lodge mezzanine. The workshops are $5 for a family pass, for four people.
Foster Parent Pre-Service Training Class: The National Youth Advocate Program will offer foster parent pre-service training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call (800) 381-9673.
Christmas Craft Show: The Madison Parks Department will host a Christmas craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brown Gym. Table space is available for $20 per table. Proceeds will go to the senior citizens program. For more information call (812) 265-4758.
Visions of Sugar Plums Bake Off: The eighth annual Carrollton event will take place starting at 8 a.m. with judging to begin at 10 a.m. at McNeal's. The contest is open to amateur cooks 18 years or older. A children's cookie contest is open to children 12 and younger.
KYNECT: Learn about getting affordable health care through kynect, Kentucky's Healthcare Connection. A representative from Triad Health Services and KIPDA will be available to answer questions and assist with the enrollment process from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library, 136 Court St., Carrollton, Ky. A Very Merry Christmas Parade: A holiday celebration on Main Street will begin at 10 a.m. and run from Jefferson to Mill streets. For more information call (812) 265-8300.
Light Up Vevay: Will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Scrooge and an Elf on the Shelf roaming downtown Vevay at starting at noon and visiting the Switzerland County Visitors Center at 1:45 for pictures. The Visitors Center will continue to offer a jingle bell necklace craft for children as long as supplies last.
Santa Express: Madison Railroad and Venture Out Business Center will host the Santa Express hourly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 and must be purchased in advance. The event departs from Venture Out Business Center. For more information call (812) 273-6510.
A Country Christmas: Enjoy an old-fashioned Christmas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Musee de Venoge, 111 State Road 129, and The Thiebaud Farmstead, 5147 E. State Road 56, in Switzerland County. A Christmas Carroll: Will be held in downtown Carrollton and around the Carroll County Courthouse square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A parade will begin at noon and run from Port William Lane to the square.
Polar Express: The Ohio Theatre will screen a free showing of Polar Express immediately following the Madison Christmas parade.
Teen Game Day: Will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.
Animal Tales Holiday Safari: An interactive, live animal presentation for all ages will begin at 2 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library as part of A Christmas Carroll.
A Christmas Carol: Storyteller Bob Hartsaw will read an abridged version of "A Christmas Carol," starting at 4 p.m. at Gallery 115. All ages are welcome. Kara Motsinger will also read "The Night Before Christmas." Refreshments will be served.
Strolling Children's Book Characters: Will be on Main Street near Village Lights Bookstore from noon to 4 p.m.
Vevay Christmas Parade: Vevay's second annual Christmas parade will be held at 4 p.m. beginning with the "Ringing of the Bells," a simultaneous bell ringing from downtown churches. Parade goers are encouraged to bring their own bells to join. The parade will end at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park with cookies, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa. At nightfall Vevay's Christmas tree will be lit for the season.
Live Nativity and Christmas Carol Sing Along: Will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Broadway Fountain. The sing-along will begin at 5 p.m.
Christmas Cookie Baking Study Break: PFLAG Hanover will host area students and their families from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hanover Presbyterian Church With a short DVD viewing in the fellowship hall and kitchen. There will also be letter writing opportunities for those interested in supporting the Freedom Indiana campaign to defeat HJR-6.
Compassionate Friends Candle Lighting Service: Will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 505 Community Drive, Seymour. The regional event is part of worldwide memorials. For more information call (812) 569-2124 or (812) 358-1894.
Moving for Better Health: The free senior exercise class will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays at the Brown Gym. For more information call (812) 273-1072.
