The annual animal angel tree is up at the shelter. The wish list includes: Dry and canned kitten and cat food; dry and canned puppy and dog food; medium-sized dog collars, metal clasps are preferred ad Hatfield Control Collars are a favorite; large, strong leashes; dog toys, especially strong dog toys like Kong, Orka and Nylabones; feathered toys for the cats; kitty litter; oatmeal pet shampoo; Pine-sol; cotton balls; q-tips; tweezers; paper towels; and gas gift cards for transporting animals to other adoption agencies and rescues.
Walter is a happy, friendly boy. He is a sweet 10 to 11-month-old puppy. He knows sit and likes to please. He also likes to take walks and play outside. He is a shepherd/beagle mix that only weighs 32 pounds and is going to stay medium-sized. He is $25 off his adoption/neuter fee.
Winston is ready to play. He is an energetic boy that plays gently. He is a 10 to 11-month-old, short-hair, gray kitten. He is $25 off his adoption/neuter fees.
The Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter currently has more than 19 dogs and puppies, and 18 cats and kittens available. Pictures of additional pets waiting for adoption can be seen at www.sisaveapet.com.
Cats and kittens are $25 off of their adoption and spay/neuter fees until Dec. 14. Cats and kittens who are already spayed/neutered are $15 off of their adoption fee.
Normal shelter hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is closed Tuesday. The shelter number is (812) 273-1788 and their email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The shelter is still collecting aluminum cans for the dog and cat medical fund. Donors can drop off rinsed and dried aluminum cans at the shelter.
Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter to help with walking dogs, playing with puppies and kittens and many other tasks. Volunteers must be 16 years old.
Donations can be mailed to 2727 Hannah Drive, Madison, IN 47250 or dropped off during shelter hours.
Animals should not be abandoned outside of the shelter or dropped off at the shelter after hours.
