Britt Copeland of Madison was recently awarded a $1,500 America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarship from the National FFA Association. Copeland, a 2013 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, is a sophomore at Purdue University majoring in agribusiness management. He is also a member of the Purdue University Western Equestrian Team and is serving as an intern this summer at the Jefferson County Purdue Extension office. He is the son of Gary and Trina Copeland of Madison.

Matt Williams, a 2014 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, has been selected to receive a Founder's Scholarship from Butler University. The scholarship guarantees full tuition for four years of academic study at Butler, valued at more than $145,000.

According to the Butler Office of Admissions, more than 10,000 applications for admission were received for the 2014 incoming freshman class. Only four of those applicants were offered the scholarship.

Williams was selected based on his achievements while in high school and his ability to contribute to the overall student body at Butler. He is the son of Shane and Shelli Williams of Madison.

Rian Andreasen of Madison graduated from the Indiana Academy of Science, Mathematics and Humanities on May 24. The academy is a two-year, public, residential high school for gifted and talented students on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie.

Deborah Brewster of Madison received a bachelor of science in business administration in accounting from Union University during the school's 189th spring commencement ceremony May 17 in Oman Arena.

Mitch Sandlin of Dupont was accepted for admission to Luther College for the 2014-2015 academic year.
