Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus named 359 students to its dean's list for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year. To receive the honor, undergraduate students must have cumulatively completed 12 credit hours of college-level work, including at least six credit hours earned during the current term and at least a 3.7 term grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Local students named to the list include: Megan Posey, Zachariah Short and Kelsey Wilson, all of Commiskey; Christine Hurst of Deputy; and Mackenzie Goodin, Dorothy Hoffmann, Jannetta Reece and Tiffany Taylor, all of Madison.



Mary Truax of Madison, a communication studies major, has been named to the dean's list at Clemson University for the fall semeseter of the 2013-2014 school year. To be named to the list, a student must earn a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.



Michael Andrew Gonterman of Carrollton, Ky. was among 551 Eastern Kentucky University dean's award recipients for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year. Gonterman is a sophomore finance major. To earn the dean's award, students must achieve dean's list honors for three semesters, not necessarily consecutive. A lapel pin is presented to students by the dean of their academic college.

To achieve dean's list honors, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.



Eastern Kentucky University recognized 1,111 graduates at the conclusion of the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year. Fraduates were honored at commencement ceremonies Dec. 14.

Local EKU graduates include:

• Cody Allen Miracle of Campbellsburg, Ky. with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice

• Kyle Andrew Silvers of Pendleton, Ky. with a bacleor of science degree in fire and safety engineering technology

• Karen Denise Popp of Bedford, Ky. magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in general studies arts and sciences.

• Sam Parker of Milton, Ky. with a bachelor of science degree in police studies.



Britney Browning of Madison has been named to Trine University's dean's list for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year. Browning is a senior majoring in design engineering technology.

To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must have earned a semester grade point average of 3.5 to 3.749 and carry a minimum of 15 credits.
