Eastern Kentucky University recently announced that 1,248 students were named to the president's list for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year.

Local students honored are:

• Lauren Nicole Holloway, of Carrollton, Ky., a freshman pre-occupational science major.

• Jacob Allen Blair, of Bedford, Ky., a junior journalism major.

• Brian Jordan Hemmer, of Bedford, Ky., a senior aviation major.

• Karen Denise Popp, of Bedford, Ky., a senior general studies in arts and sciences major.

• Sandi D. Magby, of Milton, Ky., a junior paralegal science major.

• Melanie Kay Hardin, of Hanover, a senior occupational safety major.

The president's list award recognizes full-time undergraduate students who earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.

• Andrew P Heilman, of Campbellsburg, Ky., a freshman elementary education teaching major.

• Mari Kaitlin Palmer, of Pendleton, Ky., a junior occupational science major.

• Sierra Brooke Scroggins, of Pendleton, Ky., a freshman elementary education teaching major.

• Jacob Allen Blair, of Bedford, Ky., a junior journalism major.

• Brian Jordan Hemmer, of Bedford, Ky., a senior aviation major.

• Karen Denise Popp, of Bedford, Ky., a senior general studies in arts and sciences major.

Students named to the dean's list must attempt 14 or more credit hours and earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 grade point average, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 grade point average.



Abbey M. Stillwell, daughter of Carla Stillwell of Madison, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year at Saint Michael's College. Stillwell is a senior psychology major.

Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized. Stillwell is a graduate of Shawe Memorial High School.
