The 52nd Southeastern Regional Science Fair was held March 1 on the Hanover College campus. Three sixth grade students from Southwestern Middle School participated.
Mitchell Adcock received honorable mention in the Life Science category.
Thomas Loehr was awarded second place in the Physical Science division. His project was also judged one of the fair's top projects, earning a trip to the state science fair.
Maddy Jacobs placed second in the Life Science division, and her project also will advance to the state science fair. Jacobs also received The T. V. Blanc Award in Applied Science which had a $25 cash award, The American Psychological Award and the Broadcom MASTERS Award. The Broadcom MASTERS Award places her in the top 10% of science fair projects in the nation, which earns her entry into the national contest.
Both Jacobs and Loehr will participate in the 26th Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair in Indianapolis on April 5th.
