- Southwestern jayvee girls tennis fell 2-1 to Austin on Wednesday afternoon.
Match results were: Singles - No. 1 Julis McIntosh (A) d. Becca Palmer (SW) 8-2; Doubles - No. 1 Elizabeth Scianni and Carol Osborn (SW) d. Kaitlin Embrey and Kayla Blaylock (A) 8-6; No. 2 Akayla Walker and Kaylee Fugate (A) d. Blanca Duraintez and Natalia Martinez (SW) 8-3.
On Fridy, Southwestern split four matches with Jennings County.
Results were: Singles - No. 1 Osborn (SW) d. Stafani Williams (JC) 8-2; Scainni (SW) d. Natalie Owens (JC) 8-3. Doubles - Brittany Thill, Annsley Blackburn (JC) d. Kelsey Jones, Palmer (SW) 8-6; Brooke Pearson, Linnea Chilman (JC) d. Duraintez, Martinez (SW) 8-0.
Southwestern hosts South Dearborn on Tuesday.
- Madison's seventh grade softball team scored a sweep of Eastern (Pekin) and lost a game to Scottsburg recently.
The Lady Bears defeated Eastern 13-4 and 18-4. Emily Kiefer and Madyson Reynolds each had two hits and Reynolds got the win in the circle in game one. Kiefer had two hits and scored four runs and Kennedy Stidham got the win in game two.
Madison lost to Scottsburg 16-9. Peyton Holt and Jade Barnes each had a hit.
- Jefferson County Tennis Association has started its annual spring drive for memberships.
Registration forms have been mailed to known tennis players and forms are also available from the website www.jeffersoncountytennis.4t.com or at the information boxes located at area tennis courts.
The association offers leagues for women and men of all skill levels, including up and down doubles in the fall. Junior players 16 and older are also welcome.

- The Outdoor Women at Big Oaks event will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The one-day event is designed for women to gain valuable outdoor skills and knowledge in an environment that encourages fun and success in the outdoors.
The event will take place at the Historic Old Timbers Lodge at the Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge. Registration forms are available at www.bigoaks.org or call (812) 273-0783.
- The Englishton Park Presbyterian Ministries in Lexington is holding its Eighth 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 14.
The event begins and ends at Englishton Park and covers part of the Civil War trek made by Confederate General John Hunt Morgan.
Early registration must be postmarked by May 21 and costs $17 which includes a T-shirt. Registration after May 21 will cost $20 with T-shirts an extra $8.
Sign-in for the race begins at 7:15 a.m. with the race starting at 8:15 a.m. Entry forms are available at www.englishtonpark.com.
