- Switzerland County junior center Eve Galbreath and senior forward T.J. White have been named Ohio River Valley Conference player of the week for girls and boys basketball for the period ending Feb. 8.
Galbreath scored 29 points and had 28 rebounds, two steals and an assist while shooting 71 percent from the field and 100 percent at the foul line in two games.
White scored 31 points, had 19 rebounds, eight steals and two assists in two games.
- Madison's unbeaten junior high school wrestling team pulled out a win in its closest match of the season to date to up its record to 7-0 with a 66-57 decision over the New Albany Scribner Panthers.
Winners for the Bear included: Camden Spears, Daunte O'Banion, Eli McGillan, Kolin Hazelwood, Quinton Faris, Dalton Sizemore, Dalton Laveck, Bailey Kernan, Gabe Bennett, Ethan Schafer and Nathan Moore.
Madison also scored wins in two exhibition matches by Tucker Adams and Brady McDole.
Madison had soundly beaten Batesville 81-30 for its sixth win of the season a night earlier.
Winners for the Bears included: Spears, McGillan, Faris, Sizemore, Laveck, Skyler Lee, Kernan, Jacob Nichols, Trajen Mack, Bennett, Duncan Boyles, Moore, Gage Fox and Logan Kent.
The Bears also got exhibition match wins by Jaylyn Lawerence, O'Banion, Jake Braley, Sizemore and Adams.
The Bears will be at home tonight when they host New Albany Hazelwood Middle School's Bull-Pups.
- The Madison High School Booster Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb.18 at 6 p.m. in the high school conference room.
The meeting is open to the public.
- Applications for the Lide White Boys & Girls Club's Little League Wrestling are currently available for all boys and girls four years of age through fifth grade.
Athletes who are currently participating on a middle or junior high school team are not eligible for Little League meets or the Little League Tournament but they can be a candidate for the Club Madison team.
Applications are due Feb. 21 and the cost is $30 for Lide White Club members (includes a T-shirt) and $40 for non-members (includes a limited membership and T-shirt). A $10 late fee will be added after Feb. 21. Wrestling begins March 3 and runs through April 24.
