- Madison boys' golfer Jordan Griffith tied for sixth at the Hoosier Junior Championship this past weekend at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus.
Griffith, a senior at Madison, shot a 73 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday for a two-day 36-hole total of 147.
- Several Madison Consolidated High School tennis players competed in the Seymour Smash Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
Kyle Sauley, won the 18 and under singles championship and captured the 18 and under doubles title with partner Noah Stookey. In the singles tournament, Sauley won morning matches before defeating Seymour's Alex Craig 6-3, 6-1 in the championship.
Sauley and Stookey beat the team of John Kleber and Dustin Ruddick to advance to the doubles championship where they defeated Ben Coomer and Andrew Rudge 2-1 on a 10-4 tiebreaker.
Other Cubs participating in the event were Luke Lipps, Cole Callahan, Patrick Grady, Christian Brown and Jin Lin. Former Madison head coach Desna Ratcliff also participated, competing in the women's doubles tournament.
- Madison junior varsity football defeated Lawrenceburg 30-6 on Thursday.
Touchdowns were scored by Spencer Perkins, Logan Cassidy and Reece Dryden with touchdown passes credited to Alex Wilson and Chad Ison.
Defensively, Bryce Furnish and Meikiah Kring each had two sacks. Reece Dryden and Jake Bell recorded interceptions.
Madison (5-2) hosts Seymour on Saturday.
- The Jefferson County Futbol Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 to discuss the upcoming indoor soccer season.
The meeting is open to all prospective players and parents and will be held in the Madison Consolidated High School cafeteria.
- The Lide White Boys and Girls Club is offering basketball leagues and little league wrestling this winter.
Basketball leagues will be offered for boys and girls, ages four through third grade and run Nov. 4 through Feb. 22.
Applications are due on Friday, Oct. 18. Cost is $40 for club members and $50 for non-club members. A $10 late feel will be assessed after the due date.
Little league wrestling is open to boys and girls, age 5 through sixth grade. Middle school wrestling members are not permitted to participate.
Applications are due by Jan. 15. The season runs from Jan. 1 through Feb. 26. Cost is $30 for club members and $40 for non-club members. A $10 late fee will be assessed if received after the due date.

- Hanover College will host The Scenic: A 5K With a View on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Runners and walkers are welcome with awards given to the top runners in each age category.
Registration costs $15 before Oct. 16 and $20 on race day. Race day registration will take place from 7:30 a.m. until the time of the race. All proceeds will benefit the Hanover College Wellness Program.

- The Fourth Annual Lights and Sirens 5K Fallen Heroes Walk-Run will be held on Oct. 19.
Cost of registration is $20 if registered by Sept. 30 or $25 if received after Sept. 30.

- The Madison Basketball Club will hold third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys basketball team tryouts this month.
