Cubs card 304 to win by 9 at Jennings County Invitational

Madison's boys golf team placed five in the Top 10 en route to claiming the Jennings County Invitational championship on Saturday at St. Anne's Golf Course in North Vernon.
The Cubs carded an overall 18-hole team score of 304, besting second place Columbus East by nine strokes. Jennings County was third with a 315 while Shelbyville was fourth at 319. Madison also put a second team in the invitational that finished fifth with a 326.
Trinity Lutheran carded a 349 to finish sixth while Whiteland and Austin were seventh and eighth, respectively, with a 352 and 472.
Shawe and South Decatur did not have enough golfers to qualify for a team score.
Four of the five Madison golfers on the Cubs' number one team recorded Top 10 finishes. Jordan Griffith was third overall with a one-over par 73 while Connor Kiefer was one-stroke behind in fourth at 74.
Carson Wattenbarger was seventh after carding a 78 and Dylan Bilz was eighth with a 79. Carson Cheatham rounded out the number one team and shot an 81.
Elias Ruiz highlighted Madison's number two team, shooting a 79 and tying Bilz for eighth place.
Mitchell Seng and Austin Mahoney each shot an 82 while Blake Kiefer scored an 83. Luke Johann rounded out team two action with an 85.
Shelbyville's Connor Ridgeway shot a 72 and claimed medalist honors in a playoff with Columbus East's Adam Krebs.
Shawe individual results were not available.
Madison faces Floyd Central and New Albany at Valley View Golf Course today.
