Ex-Cub Justin Tereshko stands fifth at State Amateur

FISHERS - Former Madison golfer Cub Justin Tereshko is tied for fifth after three rounds of the 114th Indiana Amateur Championship.
Tereshko, who played college golf at Transylvania University after Madison, is nine strokes out of the lead and two strokes out of third place after 54 holes of the 72-hole event.
Tereshko shot a third round 75 to go with back-to-back 71s on Tuesday and Wednesday at Purgatory Golf Club in Fishers. He stands at one-over-par for the tourney and tied with McCormick Clouser of Bluffton.
Nicholas Grubnich of Crown Point leads the amateur at 8-under-208, David Mills of Evansville is at 5-under-211 and Sean Rowen of Orleans is at one-under 215.
Tereshko carded six bogeys, three birdies and nine pars on Thursday after scoring five birdies, four bogeys and nine pars on Wednesday and four birdies, three bogeys and 11 pars on Tuesday.
Tereshko's younger brother, Brandon, also competed in the State Amateur but missed the cut for the final 54 holes after shooting a 72 on Tuesday and an 86 (158) on Wednesday.
Brandon Tereshko, also a former Madison Cub who went on to play college golf at Taylor University, had two birdies and two bogeys en route to his even-par opening round but took five bogeys, three double-bogeys and a triple-bogey in the second round.
The State Amateur wraps up today in Fishers.
