Hanover overpowers Earlham men, 92-49

Desmond Marks scored a career-high 17 points to lead Hanover's men to a 92-49 basketball win over Earlham Saturday in Richmond.
Marks, a sophomore from Bloomington, hit all eight of his field goal attempts and added his only free throw to reach double figures for the fifth time this season and lead four Hanover players in double figures.
Kyle James scored 16, Brian Gunter had 14 and Drake Hendricks added 13 for Hanover.
Hanover, which led wire-to-wire, shot 50.7 percent from the floor (36-of-71), including eight 3-pointers, and hit all 12 of its free-throw attempts.
Gunter scored 10 straight points over a two-minute span to help the Panthers open a 32-15 lead with 10:38 left in the first period.
Marks netted seven points, James had five and Hendricks added four as Hanover outscored the Quakers 24-11 the remainder of the half to mor than double up Earlham 56-26 at halftime.
Earlham cut the margin to 28 points twice in the opening two minutes of the second half, but Hendricks scored twice from inside and Marks added two buckets as the Panthers road an 8-0 run to a 68-32 cushion with 15:24 to go.
The lead was never fewer than 33 points the rest of the game.
The Panthers' defense held Earlham to 37 percent shooting from the field (20-of-54) and produced 24 turnovers. Hanover, meanwhile, committed just nine turnovers and outrebounded the Quakers, 39-33.
Marks pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and Gunter added six.
The loss was the eighth straight for Earlham, which fell to 2-19 overall and 1-13 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Dustin Rusk led the Quakers with 10 points.
The Panthers have won nine of their last 10 games to stand at 14-7 overall and 11-3 in the HCAC.
Hanover hosts Anderson on Wednesday.
